Dr. Blake Upston, D.C. was born and raised in Battle Creek, MI. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 2002. After High School, Dr. Upston went and played soccer at Winthrop University. He then transferred to Albion College where he graduated with a BA in Biochemistry in 2007. After Undergrad, Dr. Upston decided to go to Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida in Daytona Beach. Dr. Upston Graduated in December of 2010 with his DC, Doctor of Chiropractic. Dr. Upston also graduated with honors, and was among four finalists for the Clinical Excellence Award, which is the top award given out at Palmer.
Dr. Upston’s decision to become a chiropractor was due to the knee surgeries that he suffered while playing soccer in college. During his last knee surgery, he developed panic attacks, and the only thing that seemed to help him with his injuries were Chiropractic adjustments to the Thoracic area. The treatments helped with his breathing, and also helped keep him more tranquil while recovering. From there, he made it his mission to help anyone that has this condition, or any similar conditions. Along with all the knee surgeries, Chiropractic seemed to help with his knees as well, and the pain in his knees has diminished since he started being treated by a chiropractor.
Dr. Upston decided to open Upston Chiropractic Wellness Center in Kalamazoo, MI because he grew up down the road in Battle Creek. Growing up, Dr. Upston played soccer for TKO and loved the city of Kalamazoo when he would come to play soccer or just visit. He believes the City of Kalamazoo and Portage has the potential to be one of the healthiest cities in the State of Michigan.
Dr. Kali Edwards grew up just west of Kalamazoo and always knew she would return home. She has her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Alma College and after working as a nanny in Europe for a year she matriculated at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2013. She also has her post graduate certification for veterinary spinal manipulation (animal chiropractic).
Dr. Kali’s chiropractic philosophy, both human and animal, is to help you get back to doing what it is you love. Whether it is a different chiropractic technique, lifestyle coaching, or helping you find a different provider to meet your personal needs, your goals are her primary concern.
Dr. Kali has a love of horses and when not found at the office she is either at her family farm (Cedar Lodge) riding or teaching, or maybe traveling across the country to attend competitions. She has an off the track thoroughbred that she does the open jumpers with, and teaches a highly competitive vaulting program (gymnastics on horseback) with her younger sister. And if that didn’t fill enough of her schedule, she also rock climbs with her husband Thomas and together, with their daughter Anna and 2 dogs (Molly and Sage), they enjoy camping trips and adventures that take them to new places.
